Description

Antique advertising ashtray, triangular with rounded edges, as seen in the photo. This model features a thick, robust structure, typical of 20th-century bar or bistro accessories. It is made of opaque white glass, as specified by the keywords. The inscription "PATRIARCHE ses grands vins" appears in bright red letters on one of the visible sides, in a typography characteristic of French wine advertising from the 1960s-70s. This silkscreened lettering is perfectly legible and well-centered on the front face.

The upper part of the ashtray shows three notches for resting cigarettes, regularly spaced around the rim. The bottom of the bowl is smooth, with no additional decoration. The whole piece displays a glossy finish, with clean edges and a stable base, suitable for professional use in a bar or cafe environment.

The white hue of the glass highlights the red inscription, creating a striking contrast and great legibility. No other inscription or mark is visible on the photographed side. The object evokes the typical advertising style of French establishments from the mid-20th century, and fully fits into the retro aesthetic sought for vintage decoration or bistro ambiance recreation.

The photo only shows one lateral side and the upper part of the ashtray. The other sides, the bottom, and the back are not visible and will therefore not be described. No chips or cracks are observable in this view; the surface appears well-preserved, with a slight patina of use compatible with a 1970s manufacturing date.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side shows no major defects; some superficial traces of use may remain, without impacting the legibility of the advertisement or the structural integrity of the ashtray. Refer to the photo for details of the apparent condition.

Did you know? Maison Patriarche, founded in Beaune in 1780, is one of the oldest wine merchants in Burgundy. Advertising bistro ashtrays were commonly used in France in cafes and restaurants to promote major wine and spirits houses, especially between the 1950s and 1980s. These objects have become iconic testimonies of popular culture and counter advertising.
