Description

Period document visible in the photo, it is a nominative share certificate issued for the Société des Glacières et Frigorifique de Grenoble. This type of financial document was issued in the 1920s, as suggested by both the typography and the ornamental style of the printed frame. The visible side shows a double leaf, with the main page of the certificate on the right, framed by a decorative classical frieze in brown and black on an ivory background.

The title "Société des Glacières et Frigorifique de Grenoble" appears at the top, printed in capital letters, followed by the mention "Société Anonyme au Capital de 250.000 Francs" (Public Limited Company with a Capital of 250,000 Francs). The registered office is clearly indicated in Grenoble, rue du Villard-de-Lans. The document includes the mention "Certificat Nominatif d'Actions" (Nominative Share Certificate), with several fields to be completed by hand (holder's name, certificate number, number of shares, date, administrators' signatures).

A large lower area is reserved for an extract from the statutes, printed in small characters, and the "Dossier de transfert" (Transfer File) section. A red stamp printed on the page, bearing the mention "Glacières et Frigorifique de Grenoble", is also visible. The reverse side is not visible in the photo, in accordance with observation guidelines.

The left leaf, also visible, is pre-printed for the registration of transfers and share slips. The general presentation, layout, and ornaments are typical of French financial securities from the early 20th century, and the paper's patina attests to its age.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The image shows a good general condition for this type of period document: the paper has a light, uniform patina, with no apparent tears or stains on the visible side. The corners are crisp, and the inscriptions remain perfectly legible. No visible signs of significant creasing are present in the photograph.

Did you know? Financial securities printed in France in the early 20th century, such as nominative shares, were often adorned with elaborate frames and stamps to limit counterfeiting. Ice companies played a crucial role in food preservation before the widespread adoption of the domestic refrigerator.
