Antique 19th Century Patinated Copper Cauldron, Vintage Retro Decorative Container
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This antique copper cauldron, with its pronounced patina, perfectly illustrates the utilitarian style of the 19th century. The object has a flared round shape, with slightly rolled edges. The exterior surface displays a matte copper hue, punctuated by natural oxidation marks that bear witness to its age and original use.
The interior part of the container shows strong green oxidation, characteristic of old copper, with shades ranging from dark verdigris to light green. Several traces of wear, stains, and irregularities are visible on the basin, reinforcing its authenticity. The upper rim features riveted metal attachments, including two wrought-iron side handles, traditionally fixed and showing homogeneous oxidation.
The inner circumference reveals small defects, scratches, and discreet impacts, typical of old utensils used in cooking or for preparing confectionery. The general appearance evokes a handcrafted piece, without superfluous decoration, favoring robustness and functionality.
The exterior color oscillates between coppery brown and golden reflections, accentuated by natural light. The side handles, made of oxidized metal, are solidly fixed and have a semicircular shape, suitable for suspending or transporting the cauldron. No pattern or inscription is visible on the exposed side.
This cauldron easily integrates into vintage or retro decor, as an accent object on a table, a shelf, or in an old-fashioned kitchen. Its unique patina makes it a characterful piece, sought after for its authenticity and decorative presence.
