Description
Old wrought iron key, typical of manor, castle or large building door locks from the 19th century. The piece has an elongated shape, with a circular grip ring, forged in one piece. The slightly conical shank leads to a massive, rectangular-section bit. The key displays a beautiful brown patina, marked by time, with visible traces of superficial oxidation and wear, characteristic of old wrought iron objects.

The grip ring is rounded, with irregularities typical of handmade work. The shank has a slight shoulder before the transition to the bit, a common detail on large door keys designed for robust locks. The bit is thick, with a simple rectilinear cut, suitable for old mechanisms. The entire key gives an impression of solidity and authenticity, reinforced by the rough texture of the forged metal and the marks of time.

In the photo, the key is placed on a wooden stand, which highlights its rustic appearance and traditional use. No markings or inscriptions are visible on the photographed side. The dominant color is a dark brown nuanced with traces of oxidation, typical of old wrought iron. The object has a homogeneous appearance, without additions or ornaments, which corresponds to quality utilitarian manufacturing for massive doors.

The surface condition shows pitting and irregularities due to corrosion, as well as uniform wear over the entire key. The head (ring) shows no major visible deformation, suggesting good structural preservation despite its apparent age. The bit, clearly visible, retains its sharp contours, with no breakage or missing parts observable on the visible side.

This old key, by its design, its large size and its material, evokes the locking systems of large doors of historical properties or institutional buildings. It can serve as a decorative element for an authentic atmosphere or be used in the context of heritage restoration, depending on its compatibility with original locks.

Condition
