Description

Old furniture key, of traditional shape, visible in the photo placed on a box covered with blue velvet. This key features a solid round head, characteristic of period furniture keys, as well as a bit with straight cuts, typical of old dresser, armoire, or secretary locks. The shaft is straight, with a slight molded ring just before the head, a detail often associated with the artisanal or semi-industrial manufacturing of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The visible finish is rusty in appearance, with a uniform reddish-brown surface and some traces of oxidation, indicating the key's age. No markings, numbers, or logos are apparent on the visible side. The structure shows regular wear, with no deformation or perceptible cracks in the photo.

The stepped bit identifies this key as intended for antique furniture, likely for a warded or deadbolt lock. The overall style, sober and utilitarian, fits into a retro or vintage aesthetic, suitable for interior decoration or the restoration of period furniture.

The key is photographed on a box with an openwork gold decoration and a velvet lid, which highlights its patina and authentic character. No other accessories or elements are included in the image.

The elongated shape and solid circular head are sought-after characteristics in the reproduction or restoration of antique furniture. The dominant color is a matte rust brown, without brilliant reflections.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. Presence of an oxidation patina visible on the entire surface, without major chips or observable breaks on the shown side.

Did you know? Warded keys were commonly used on European furniture from the 19th century until the early 20th century. The shape of their bit was often unique to each lock, which helped ensure a certain level of security for valuable furniture or document secretaries.
