Description

Quimper faience wall pocket, with traditional Breton decoration. The piece has a slender conical shape, characteristic of hanging vessels or wall-mounted flower holders. The visible side is adorned with a hand-painted scene depicting a woman in traditional Breton costume, in profile, holding a small flower. The dominant colours are cobalt blue, ochre, green, and black, with touches of orange-red highlighting the floral decoration and the lateral plant motifs.

The upper rim is edged with a bright blue line, and the upper part has a hanging hole, typical of wall pockets designed to be hung. The visible interior of the rim is decorated with blue and orange geometric motifs. The base of the cone tapers to a point, also edged in blue.

The faience has a slightly speckled appearance, typical of Quimper's artisanal productions, and the entire decoration is done in the naive and colourful style emblematic of the manufacturer. The central figure, the stylized vegetation, as well as the chromatic palette confirm its Quimper origin, although the signature is not visible on this side.

This type of wall pocket was traditionally used as a wall vase, flower holder, or for interior decoration, and remains an emblem of Breton faience. The freehand work and strong regional identity make it a sought-after decorative piece.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible surface shows a beautiful patina, with no apparent chips or cracks on the visible side. Minor wear consistent with age and decorative use is possible.
