This antique letter opener displays the typical craftsmanship of trench art from World War I. The object consists of a curved blade, finely carved and engraved with the word "VERDUN" on the visible side, evoking the famous battle of 1916. Its general shape resembles a small scythe or crescent, with carefully worked contours and a serrated upper tip.

The handle is made from a military cartridge case, recognizable by its flared base and patinated metallic appearance. The lower part of the handle shows a visible oxidized area, attesting to its age and authenticity. The whole piece displays a visual finish typical of objects made from recycled materials during the 1914-18 conflict.

The blade has a golden-brown patina, with a gradient of shades ranging from bronze to copper, and a fine engraving of the lettering "VERDUN" across the entire outer part.
