Description

This thimble features a classic shape, slightly flared at the base, typical of traditional sewing thimbles. Made with a smooth, glossy finish reminiscent of porcelain, its visible side is adorned with a detailed illustration depicting the famous polychrome roofs of the Hospices de Beaune, an emblematic monument in Burgundy. The inscription "Les Hospices Beaune" appears in clear black letters below the decoration, reinforcing the regional and souvenir character of this item.

The upper part of the thimble is decorated with a faceted relief pattern, designed to facilitate grip during use. A delicate gold rim highlights the base, adding an extra decorative touch to the whole. The dominant colors of the scene are ochre, brown, and gold tones, with some touches of blue on the roofs, faithful to the original architecture of the monument depicted.

The object is photographed on a light surface, with natural lighting highlighting the brilliance of the finish and the sharpness of the decoration. No major defects are visible on the presented side: the decoration and inscriptions are clear, the gilding appears intact, and no cracks or chips are apparent on this side.

This thimble is part of the tradition of French regional souvenirs, often collected or used for sewing. Its retro style and faithful representation of a historic site make it both a decorative and functional item, typical of tourist productions from the second half of the 20th century.

The slightly flared base, the gilding, and the quality of the print suggest careful manufacturing. It is a sewing accessory, but also a decorative or display item, appreciated for its vintage appearance and its connection to Burgundian heritage.
