Old mammal tooth taxidermy, vintage curiosity cabinet
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This item is an ancient mammal tooth, presented here in its natural state, ideal for taxidermy or for integration into a cabinet of curiosities. The tooth is complete on its visible side, showing two distinct roots and a worn crown, typical of ancient specimens. Its surface displays a beige to yellow patina, with lighter nuances in certain areas, testifying to authentic aging.
The overall shape is elongated, with a bifid base and a rather massive crown, characteristic of molars or premolars of certain large mammals. The visual appearance shows vertical striations on the roots, as well as fine natural cracks on the enamel, which highlight the age of the piece. The upper end of the crown shows signs of wear, with no major chips visible on this side.
The dominant color is a patinated ivory, with slightly darker areas and a few discreet brown spots, adding character to the whole. No inscription, mark or indication of origin is visible on this side. The item is photographed next to a tape measure for visual reference, but no numerical dimensions are explicitly given in the keywords.
This type of tooth, thanks to its raw appearance and natural texture, fits perfectly into naturalistic-inspired decors or in a curiosity cabinet display. It can also serve as a pedagogical support in biology or paleontology, or simply be displayed as a vintage decorative object.
Condition
Ancient tooth with a beautiful patina and natural signs of wear. Some micro-fissures and superficial marks visible on the crown and roots, with no major apparent loss on the photographed side. Used item sold as is.
