Vintage Qin Dynasty Terra Cotta Figures China Slides, Photo Box
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This box set, visible in the photo, contains a set of old tourist slides, illustrating the famous terracotta soldiers of the Qin Dynasty, in China. The hardback cover features a color photograph of the statues on the front, surrounded by a white frame, with the title in gold letters at the top: "QIN DYNASTY TERRA-COTTA FIGURES". Gold Chinese characters are also visible at the bottom right of the main image. The whole is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve, revealing the black box and its multicolored label.
The central visual highlights several terracotta warrior statues, photographed at their exhibition site, recognizable by their detailed armor and characteristic posture. The background suggests a covered structure, probably that of Emperor Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum in Xi'an, famous for the discovery of this monumental funerary army.
The item comes in the form of a flat, glossy box, designed to hold slides. The top of the cover reveals a vintage typography typical of the 1970s-1980s, with slightly patinated gilding. No specific brand indication is legible, but the mention at the bottom of the box "CHINA TRAVEL TOURIST SLIDES" suggests production for the international tourist market.
The visible part suggests an internal storage for the slides, but only the exterior is observable in the photo. The overall condition of the box appears good, with slight wear on the corners and the plastic sleeve, indicating moderate use. The cover photograph remains clear, without major alteration to the visual.
This type of slide set was commonly offered in souvenir shops at Chinese tourist sites from the second half of the 20th century. This is a typical object of cultural tourism around Chinese world heritage, appreciated for its documentary value and its retro aesthetic.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The exterior of the box shows slight traces of wear and discreet marks on the plastic sleeve, without impacting the legibility of the visible images and titles.
