Description

Period administrative document, issued by the Bouches-du-Rhône Department, visible in the photo. This official report, dated October 15, 1920, concerns a request for temporary occupation of the public maritime domain at the port of Marseille, Pharo sector. It is a sub-divisional officer's report regarding a petition from Ms. Marie Bousquet, requesting the installation of a shack for selling drinks to workers at the Pharo construction site.

The document is typewritten on letterhead "Ponts et Chaussées — Département des Bouches-du-Rhône — 1re subdivision de Marseille". Several administrative mentions are visible, as well as handwritten signatures and annotations ("Madame Bousquet"). The names of the engineers and the sub-divisional chief are clearly distinguishable: Mr. Sicard (T.P.E. engineer), Mr. Sainflou (ordinary conductor), and Mr. Renard (chief engineer).

The main text specifies the request for occupation of a 2.50 m wide by 5.50 m long site, near the Pharo guardhouse in Marseille, to install a shack for selling drinks. Several regulatory and administrative references are cited at the bottom of the page, confirming the rigor of the issuing context.

The paper has a slightly yellowed ivory tint, typical of administrative documents from the early 20th century. The upper right edge shows a slightly dog-eared corner, with no visible tear on the photographed part. The typewritten text remains perfectly legible, and official stamps or seals are not visible on the face shown.

The general presentation, sober and formal, reflects the aesthetic of French administrative archives from the 1920s. This type of document is sought after for studying local history, port infrastructure, and the functioning of public services in Marseille in the early 20th century.
