Description

This period administrative document, presented as a typewritten sheet, is an official prefectural decree issued by the Prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône. The document, visibly dated from the 1940s, concerns an authorization for the occupation of public land in Marseille, as indicated by the visible headers and mentions. The layout is typical of French administrative acts from the first half of the 20th century, with an orderly structure and regular margins.

At the top of the page is the mention "État Français" (French State), confirming its drafting under the Vichy regime, which precisely places the period in the 1940s. Several official stamps are affixed, including an oval violet ink stamp indicating the public domain office in Marseille, and another rectangular stamp in the upper right corner specifying the division and number of the decree. Two blue tax stamps are affixed to the left side of the document, bearing the inscription "Domaines / 5 francs" and "France", proof of authentic administrative use.

The main text, in typewritten characters, mentions an authorization granted to a named person (visible name: Marc D'AFARIS or similar, subject to accurate reading), with details on the purpose of the request and the conditions of occupation. The document also includes a handwritten signature at the bottom left, adding to its administrative authenticity.

The sheet shows a patina characteristic of old paper: slightly yellowed coloration, traces of wear on the edges, and slight sagging in the lower left corner. No decoration is visible; the style remains sober, institutional, and functional. The overall condition is good for a document of this period, with satisfactory overall legibility despite slight discoloration in places.

Condition

Used document, sold as is. Shows signs of wear, antique patina, small creases, and blunted corners. Text legibility is generally good, stamps and tax stamps are well preserved.

Did you know? Prefectural decrees were and remain official acts issued by Prefects in France, particularly for the management of public land. Under the Vichy regime (1940-1944), many official documents bore the mention "État Français" and were often accompanied by tax stamps, the latter serving to authenticate and register administrative acts.
