Description

Old embroidered patch representing the Col du Granier, altitude 1164 meters, as visible on the front. This patch has a shield shape with a black and yellow border, characteristic of vintage tourist patches. In the center, the embroidery details a stylized mountain landscape, with a rocky peak in shades of beige and ocher, green fir trees below, and an alpine chalet with a blue and red roof, typical of the Savoy region.

In the lower left corner, a red shield with a white cross clearly evokes the coat of arms of Savoy, reinforcing the regional anchoring of this patch. The embroidered mention "COL DU GRANIER 1164M" appears in white letters on a black background in the upper part, perfectly legible and clear. The embroidery shows good density and vibrant colors, with no apparent fading on the visible area.

The texture of the thread used offers a slight relief and the outlines are well marked, thanks in particular to the yellow border that frames the entire motif. The entire patch is affixed to a felt-like textile backing, typical of patches from the 60s to 80s, although the precise era is not explicitly datable without other clues. No other text or logo is visible on the front.

The general appearance of the patch evokes memories of mountain trips and souvenir items from French alpine resorts. The graphic composition harmoniously combines natural landscape, regional architecture, and Savoyard symbolism, making it both a decorative and historical object. The patch is presented on a white background, which highlights the chromatic richness of the embroidery.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The patch is well preserved on the visible side: embroidery not frayed, sustained colors, no major apparent defects on the front. Slight traces of wear compatible with age, without significant alteration of the visual aspect.

Did you know? The Col du Granier, located in the Chartreuse massif in Savoie, culminates at 1164 meters and is an emblematic passage for hikers and cyclists. Embroidered patches of resorts or mountain passes were very popular in the second half of the 20th century in France, often sewn onto backpacks, jackets or hats as souvenirs of passage.
