Description

Old military patch, typical of the insignia worn by the French Air Force. It is an embroidered chevron, in the shape of an inverted V, made on a navy blue textile backing. The patch features three parallel bands of golden orange, finely embroidered, with a blue-green central border, giving an elegant contrast characteristic of traditional rank insignia.

The embroidery is dense, with a regular and well-defined pattern. The outlines are sharp despite some visible irregularities due to wear and tear over time, particularly on the edges which show slight fraying. The overall impression is one of a sober and utilitarian style, consistent with French military codes of the 20th century.

The textile background has a felted appearance, with a uniform dark shade. No additional markings or inscriptions are visible on the front. The piece is slightly curved, suggesting wear on a sleeve or shoulder of a uniform, though this cannot be specified further without a view of the reverse side.

The triple chevron pattern is reminiscent of non-commissioned officer or warrant officer ranks in many armies, and this aesthetic is frequently found in French Air Force insignia, particularly on period uniforms. The general appearance and embroidery technique are characteristic of insignia manufactured in the mid-20th century, though precise dating cannot be confirmed here.

The golden orange color and the aligned chevron structure are distinctive elements, appreciated for their readability and symbolic value in identifying military ranks.
