Description

This philatelic envelope, visible in the photo, is a "First Day Cover" (FDC) issued in France, dated September 8, 1962, in Orléans. It features a detailed floral illustration, centered on a large pink-red rose accompanied by dark green leaves and buds. The printing is crisp, with a graphic style typical of the early 1960s, combining fine lines and contrasting colors.

The stamp, also illustrated with a rose, is perfectly affixed to the envelope. Two legible, round Post Office cancellations, applied in blue ink, bear the inscription: "PREMIER JOUR D’EMISSION ROSES DE FRANCE 8 SEPT. 62 ORLEANS". This double cancellation attests to the philatelic status of the envelope, sought after for its documentary and historical value.

The visible side shows almost the entire illustration as well as the upper part of the envelope, protected by a transparent plastic sleeve. No major defects are visible on the illustrated area: the print remains bright, with no obvious stains or discoloration. The protective plastic shows some creases and handling marks, but does not appear to have damaged the envelope itself.

The printed cartouche "Emission Internationale des Roses d’Aujourd’hui" reinforces the commemorative nature of this envelope, typical of the thematic issues of 20th-century French philately. A small handwritten label with the inscription "1uf" is visible on the bottom of the protective plastic.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Envelope visually well preserved, in its original plastic sleeve, with traces of use on the protection but no noticeable defects on the illustrated part or on the visible stamp.
