Description

This commemorative philatelic envelope features a large, colorful illustration of a white dove in flight, holding an olive branch, a universal symbol of peace. The illustration occupies a large part of the left side of the envelope and presents, in the background, a stylized landscape with vibrant colors and graphic elements evoking Algeria, notably a silhouette of the Eiffel Tower in reference to France. The inscriptions printed at the bottom of the illustration state: "March 19, 1982 – 20th Anniversary "Ceasefire in Algeria"."

The visible side also shows two clearly legible round postmarks from La Poste, bearing the mention "March 19, 1982," confirming the issue date. These cancellations are affixed to the right side of the envelope, over the stamp and the adjacent area. A green postal stamp is visible, partially obscured by the protective plastic, but identifiable as an official stamp franked for the occasion.

The envelope is protected in a transparent plastic sleeve, which has preserved the integrity of the colors and inscriptions. A small gray rectangular sticker, with the handwritten inscription "1F," is affixed to the right side. The visible support is white paper with a smooth surface, typical of first-day or commemorative envelopes.

The graphic style, saturated colors, and theme evoke the commemorative philately of the 1980s, a period when this item was issued to mark the 20th anniversary of the ceasefire in Algeria, signifying the end of the Franco-Algerian conflict.

Condition

Used item in very good apparent condition, protected in a plastic sleeve. Colors are well preserved, visible postmarks are clear and legible. No tears or creases visible on the exposed side. Sold as is.
