Description

Illustrated philatelic envelope, FDC (First Day Cover) type, dedicated to the 1969 CEPT Europa issue. The visible front features a color printed illustration of two storks on a nest, above the "CEPT EUROPA" logo, accompanied by the inscription "EUROPA 1969". This envelope bears the blue Europa 1969 stamp with a face value of 0.70 francs, accompanied by a "First Day of Issue" postmark dated 5.5.69 in Strasbourg, with the mention "Conseil de l'Europe" (Council of Europe).

The envelope is protected in a transparent plastic sleeve. In the lower right part, there is a handwritten label "12F". The mentions "Premier Jour d'Émission" (First Day of Issue) as well as "Historique F.D.C." and the number 676 are printed in the upper left. The cancellation mark bears the mention "STRASBOURG" and the visual of the Europa stamp. The print is clear, the colors of the stamp and the illustration are well preserved, the background of the envelope is white.

The visible front shows no major defects: the general condition appears correct, without marked creases or visible stains on this side. The plastic sleeve shows some reflections and superficial marks, but the document inside seems well protected.

This FDC envelope meets the criteria for sought-after philatelic items on the market, combining a commemorative stamp, thematic illustration, and an official first-day postmark. The visual highlights the European theme, common in CEPT issues of this period.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The envelope is presented in a plastic sleeve, with some handling marks on the protection. The visible front of the document shows no apparent major defects.

Did you know? CEPT (European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations) has issued Europa series annually since 1956, symbolizing European postal cooperation. Europa FDC envelopes are particularly appreciated for their thematic iconography and their first-day postmark, often linked to symbolic cities like Strasbourg, headquarters of the Council of Europe.
