Description

Illustrated philatelic cover, visible in a transparent protective sleeve, featuring on the front a red 0.50 F stamp with the effigy of General de Gaulle, captioned "Général de Gaulle, Paris 1944". The stamp is cancelled with a round black postmark bearing the inscription "NOTRE DAME DES ALPES", dated November 10, 1972. To the right, a rectangular commemorative postmark features a stylized portrait of General de Gaulle, the inscription "EXPOSITION DE GAULLE NICE Palais de la Méditerranée 9-12 nov. 1972" as well as decorative elements in black.

The envelope has a matte white surface, with no apparent decoration other than the philatelic elements. The blue sender's stamp "SCOTEM 25, Rue Calmel, 25 PARIS" is visible at the bottom right. No handwritten text, address, or additional stamp appears on this side. The whole is well centered and the postmarks' impression is clear, with no major smudging.

The envelope appears unfranked for actual postal use, but produced to commemorate the philatelic event related to the 1972 De Gaulle Exhibition in Nice. The stamp, typical of French issues of the period, highlights the figure of General de Gaulle at the Liberation, in a full-length scene with a stylized crowd background. The graphic design of the commemorative postmark echoes official portraits of the time.

The item is protected in a plastic sleeve, which preserves the overall condition of the piece, and the visible paper shows no major discoloration or apparent snag on the side shown. The sober presentation, typical of so-called "First Day" or "commemorative" covers, is adapted to significant philatelic events.
