Description

Illustrated philatelic envelope, commemorating the opening of the Grenoble Winter Olympic Games in 1968. The visible side features a colorful illustration of a skier in full descent, surrounded by fir trees and mountains, evoking the alpine and sporting atmosphere of the event. The inscription "OUVERTURE DES JEUX" (OPENING OF THE GAMES) appears at the top, followed by the number "No 628 A" and the mention "DESCENTE" (DOWNHILL) at the bottom left. The illustrator's signature "F. Louis" is visible below the scene.

Two official postmarks are clearly printed on the right side of the envelope. They bear the inscription "Xes JEUX OLYMPIQUES D’HIVER / INAUGURATION / 6 FEV. 68 / 38 GRENOBLE" (Xth WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES / INAUGURATION / FEB 6. 68 / 38 GRENOBLE), with a stylized Olympic flame motif. A reddish-pink, canceled stamp is also affixed to the top right, with a profile effigy and "LA POSTE" clearly visible. A small handwritten label indicates "15F" at the bottom right, probably an old rating.

The surface of the envelope has a slightly glossy appearance, protected by a transparent plastic film, suggesting particular care in its preservation. No details of the back or interior are visible in the photo.
