SCOTEM philatelic cover 0.50 F de Gaulle Paris 1974 postmarked
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
As a philately specialist, I am offering you here an illustrated first day cover, visible in a protective plastic sleeve. This envelope features a red French Republic stamp, face value 0.50 F, depicting General de Gaulle in front of a crowd, with the inscription "LIBÉRATION DE PARIS 1944". The stamp is cancelled with a circular postmark dated 11.11.1974, mentioning "PARIS XVII", indicating a first day cancellation.
The front of the envelope also displays a black printed illustration, partially visible under the plastic, which seems to commemorate an event related to the Second World War. The legible text states: "EXPOSITION DE LA GUERRE DE 1939-1945 / PALAIS DE LA MÉDITERRANÉE / 6-12 NOV 1974".
In the bottom right of the envelope, a blue stamped inscription can be seen: "SCOTEM, 23, Rue Calmette, 25 PARIS". A small handwritten or printed insert, "6F", is glued to the sleeve, with no precise indication of its meaning.
The general presentation is neat, with a white envelope with a black border, inserted in a transparent plastic sleeve. No information is visible on the back or inside of the envelope.
The visual and inscriptions evoke an official postal souvenir, typical of philatelic material issued for commemorative events or historical exhibitions. The ensemble highlights the work of the SCOTEM company, known for its illustrated envelopes and philatelic souvenirs.
Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible envelope appears well preserved, with no apparent tears or stains on the front, with a clean presentation under plastic. Slight signs of wear or rubbing may be present on the protective sleeve.
Did you know? First Day Covers, or "FDC", are philatelic items issued when a new stamp is released. They feature the stamp cancelled on its official release date, often accompanied by a commemorative illustration related to the stamp's subject.
