This First Day Cover (FDC) commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Verdun. On the visible side, there is a detailed illustration depicting a soldier in action, against a background of trenches, in blue-gray and brown tones, evoking the atmosphere of the First World War. The entire visual clearly focuses on the duty of remembrance and tribute to the combatants of Verdun.

The envelope features a matching stamp, also dedicated to the Battle of Verdun, with a design in the same color scheme as the main illustration. Two postmarks are clearly visible, bearing the inscription "50e ANNIVERSAIRE DE LA BATAILLE DE VERDUN – PREMIER JOUR – 28 MAI 66 – 55 VERDUN – MEUSE". These postmarks attest to the precise issue date of the cover, which is highly sought after in philately for this type of commemorative mail.

In the upper right corner, the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION" (First Day of Issue) and the reference "N° 567 – HISTORIQUE" are clearly legible.
