Description
Illustrated First Day Cover (FDC) dedicated to Marshal Lannes (1769-1809), a military figure of the Napoleonic era. The envelope features a color illustration depicting a portrait of Marshal Lannes, accompanied by a motif of military decorations, inspired by Serveau. The design occupies the left part of the visible face and is distinguished by a palette of brown, red, and gold tones, with precise details on the face and military attire.

In the center and on the right, two round postmarks are affixed, bearing the inscription "1769-MARÉCHAL LANNES-PREMIER JOUR-10 MAI 1969-LECTOURE". The envelope also includes a matching stamp, positioned in the upper right, illustrating the same character. The inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION – FIRST DAY COVER" appears in the lower left, confirming that it is a commemorative philatelic envelope issued on the first day of the series.

The support has a glossy finish, likely protected by a transparent plastic sleeve. The inscriptions are clear and legible, and the overall presentation is neat, conforming to FDC (First Day Cover) philatelic standards. A small white insert with a handwritten inscription ("15F") is visible in the lower right corner.

The visible side shows no apparent creases or major stains. The colors of the illustration remain vibrant, and the postmark is clearly marked. No text or illustration is observable on the back or inside, as per the provided view.

This type of First Day Cover is particularly appealing to collectors of thematic philately focused on French history, the Empire, or great military figures.

Condition
Used item, sold as is. The visible side appears in very good condition, under plastic protection, with no major defects observed in the photo.

Did you know? Marshal Jean Lannes was one of Napoleon Bonaparte's closest collaborators, elevated to the dignity of Marshal of the Empire in 1804. Born in Lectoure, he was celebrated in 1969 on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth, hence the issuance of this commemorative First Day Cover bearing his effigy.
