Description

This First Day Cover commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Postal Cheque service in France, issued in Paris in January 1968. The visible side features a colorful graphic-style illustration typical of the 1960s, depicting hands holding a cheque, with golden coins escaping from a box, against a blue and yellow background. The inscription "50ème anniversaire du service des Chèques Postaux" (50th anniversary of the Postal Cheque service) appears in capital letters on the left side, framed by a yellow border.

On the right side, two official postmarks are clearly visible. The central postmark reads "Cinquantenaire des Chèques Postaux Premier Jour Paris 4 Janv. 68" (Fiftieth Anniversary of Postal Cheques First Day Paris Jan. 4, 68), accompanied by a stylized drawing of a post office counter and a hand. The second blue postmark, in the upper right, indicates "First Day Cover" with the FDC monogram. A French stamp from the same era is affixed to the upper right corner, canceled by the issue date postmark.

The envelope also bears the inscription "Premier Jour d’Émission – First Day Cover" printed in blue on the lower part of the visible side. A small handwritten "10F" sticker is affixed to the lower right part, probably an old price indication.

The main colors are blue, yellow, ochre, and white, with sharp contrasts and printing faithful to the period. The overall appearance evokes the institutional French graphic style of the 1960s, both in the typographic choices and the illustration. No major defects are observable on the presented side, apart from some reflections due to a plastic protector. The general condition of the visible side appears clean, with no apparent tears or stains.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side is in good condition, with preserved colors and inscriptions. Reflections from plastic protection in the photo, no visible defects on the illustration or postmarks.
