Description

Illustrated First Day Cover, dedicated to Admiral de Grasse, issued on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of his birth. This philatelic item features a French commemorative stamp, with a face value of 0.50+0.10 F, bearing the bust of Admiral de Grasse, printed in black and orange. The stamp bears the inscriptions "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and "Amiral DE GRASSE".

The stamp is cancelled with a round postmark, clearly legible "GRASSEUR DE GRASSE - 23-10 1972", dated October 23, 1972, which corresponds to the First Day of Issue (FDC - First Day Cover). To the right of the stamp, there is a printed illustration depicting scales and a heraldic lion, accompanied by the inscription "250e ANNIVERSAIRE DE GRASSE LIEUTENANT GÉNÉRAL DES ARMÉES NAVALES DU ROI".

The envelope is inserted into a protective plastic sleeve, with a visible black band on the upper part. In the bottom right, a handwritten label indicates "10F". The address stamp of the publisher or distributor is also visible: "SCOTEM, 25 Rue Cambacérès, PARIS 8e".

The background of the envelope is white, with some visible black marks. The overall appearance is a classic philatelic item, typical of French commemorative issues from the early 1970s.

The visible side shows no signs of handwritten text other than the printed inscriptions and the postmark. No information is visible regarding any potential contents or reverse side.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The envelope shows some marks and spots visible on the surface, with no major apparent defects on the presented side. Protective plastic sleeve included, with minor signs of wear.
