Description
Illustrated First Day Cover (FDC) dedicated to Aristide Maillol, French sculptor (1861-1944), visible in a protective plastic sleeve. The displayed side features a stylized portrait of Aristide Maillol, accompanied by a graphic reproduction of a bas-relief sculptural work. The print is in shades of blue, purple, and black, with clear details and a layout typical of French First Day issues.
The top of the envelope bears the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION HISTORIQUE" (HISTORIC FIRST DAY OF ISSUE) and the mention "FDC". The title "ARISTIDE MAILLOL – Sculpteur – 1861-1944" (ARISTIDE MAILLOL – Sculptor – 1861-1944) is clearly visible, printed at the bottom left, reinforcing the commemorative nature of this philatelic envelope.
A French stamp illustrated with a sculpture (seated female nude) is affixed to the upper right. Two round "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION" (FIRST DAY OF ISSUE) postmarks with the mention "ARISTIDE MAILLOL" and the date "16 FEV. 68" are stamped on the stamp and the envelope. The postmark also indicates "BANYULS-SUR-MER (PYR.ORIENT)", referring to Maillol's birthplace.
The visible surface is clean, without stains or major apparent creases, protected by a transparent plastic sleeve. A small handwritten "10F" sticker is visible at the bottom right, without affecting the integrity of the item. No other notable defects are visible on the displayed side.
