Description

Illustrated first day cover, dedicated to the World Ski Championships in Chamonix in 1962. The visible side features a colorful illustration of a skier in action against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains, in a dynamic scene typical of sports representations from the early 1960s. The graphics are precise, with a marked contrast between the red of the skier's outfit and the light blue of the alpine scenery.

The envelope bears the inscription "HISTORIC FIRST DAY OF ISSUE" with the mention "No 484 F.D.C.", as well as the official stamp "FIRST DAY WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS CHAMONIX JAN. 27, 1962". A canceled stamp is affixed to the upper right, illustrating a stylized portrait, probably related to the event, with an overprint of the First Day postmark.

At the bottom, "CHAMONIX 1962 WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS" is typewritten, along with a red stamp from the Organizing Committee. The entire envelope is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve, whose sheen is visible in the photo. A small handwritten sticker indicates "10F" in the bottom right corner.
