Description

This illustrated envelope is a philatelic "first day cover" dedicated to the Collège Sainte-Barbe in Paris, celebrating its half-millennium from 1460 to 1960. On the front, the envelope features a color illustration depicting a female figure dressed in a red and gold toga, holding an open book and a large feather, in front of an architectural archway adorned with the inscription "SAINTE BARBE". The overall design evokes a commemorative style with sharp printing and meticulous details.

The envelope bears the mention "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION" (FDC - First Day Cover) as well as the number 559 in the upper right corner. The postmarks, clearly visible, are dated December 3, 1960, and bear the inscription "COLLEGE SAINTE-BARBE DEMI MILLENAIRE PARIS". A specific stamp, partially visible, completes the postage, in line with the theme of the commemorative event.

The entire item is protected within a transparent plastic sleeve, which helps preserve the overall condition of the envelope. There is also a small handwritten insert "101" in the lower right corner, which does not affect the main appearance.

The front does not show any other specific inscriptions or marks, apart from an additional round stamp at the bottom left, typical of official philatelic editions. The main colors are white, red, gold, and touches of black and green, giving the whole a elegant and historical appearance.
