AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
First Day Cover (FDC), illustrated and dedicated to the "EUROPA 1970" theme. The visible side features a clear print of a circular motif with red and orange lines, surrounding a blue illustration of the Palais de l'Europe in Strasbourg, identifiable by its characteristic architectural silhouette. Four colored dots (orange and yellow) bearing the letters C, P, E, and T are also visible, integrated into the central design.
In the upper right corner, two postage stamps are affixed: one blue-green, the other red, both canceled with a legible circular postmark bearing the inscription "CONSEIL DE L’EUROPE EUROPA 6-5-70 STRASBOURG". This postmark confirms the precise date of issue and the postal origin of the letter. The envelope bears the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION N° 2604 HISTORIQUE F.D.C." at the top, attesting to its status as an official FDC.
The lower left corner displays the inscription "PREMIER JOUR", as well as an additional blue stamp, likely from the issuing organization. The inscription "EUROPA 1970" is clearly visible on the lower part of the envelope. A rectangular insert with the number "12F" is visible, indicating a handwritten or printed price or tariff reference.
The envelope is presented in a transparent plastic sleeve, which partially protects its surface and allows a glimpse of the general condition of the paper. No major defects appear on the visible side, apart from some reflections or possible creases in the plastic sleeve. The structure of the envelope remains flat, with no noticeable crushing or tearing in the area shown.
The main colors are the white of the background, the red, orange, and blue graphic elements, as well as the multicolored stamps. All visible inscriptions are precisely printed, and the cancellations are clear, facilitating the identification of the place and date of issue.
Condition
Used item in good apparent condition on the visible side, protected in a plastic sleeve. Sold as is, without guarantee on the condition of the non-visible sides.
Did you know? First Day Covers (FDCs) are specially issued to commemorate the release of a new stamp. The "EUROPA" theme has existed since 1956 and symbolizes European postal cooperation; each year, participating countries issue stamps on a common theme, accompanied by official FDCs.
