Description

First Day Cover philatelic envelope dedicated to the 1968 Mexico City Olympic Games, illustrated on the front with a large, colorful vignette depicting three athletes in full stride, against a red background with the Olympic rings and an ancient statue in the background. The envelope is adorned with a gold border around the main illustration, adding an elegant finishing touch, and features the gold inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’EMISSION – FIRST DAY COVER" in the lower left.

Two round postmarks are clearly visible on the front, bearing the inscription "JEUX OLYMPIQUES DE MEXICO * 12 OCT. 68 * PARIS," which attests to its cancellation on the official release day of the stamp, on its first day of issue. The envelope is protected by a transparent plastic film, revealing a brilliant white background and a handwritten "12F" label affixed in the lower right.

The graphic composition highlights the sporting theme with a dynamic scene of runners, typical of Olympic illustrations from the late 1960s. The dominant colors are red, gold, green, and white, offering a strong visual contrast and a retro aesthetic characteristic of this period.

The inscriptions are clear and legible on the visible side. No stamp is visible in the photo; only the illustrated vignette occupies the main space, surrounded by a gold frame. The overall presentation suggests an official philatelic item, intended to commemorate the major sporting event of 1968.

Condition

Used item sold as is. Presence of handling marks, small imperfections or irregularities on the envelope and the protective plastic film. The illustration and postmarks remain clearly visible. No information on the back or inside of the envelope.
