Description

Illustrated First Day Cover (FDC) dedicated to Joseph Mazzini, an Italian historical figure. The front features a colorful illustration depicting two soldiers in uniform entering a room where a man is lying down, a scene titled "Arrestation à Savone en 1850" (Arrest in Savona in 1850). The envelope bears the inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION No 458 HISTORIQUE F.D.C." (FIRST DAY OF ISSUE No 458 HISTORICAL F.D.C.) in the upper left, as well as a print "MAZZINI, JOSEPH Patriote italien" (MAZZINI, JOSEPH Italian Patriot) in the lower left.

A stamp bearing the likeness of Joseph Mazzini is affixed to the right, accompanied by two legible circular postmarks: "PREMIER JOUR CINQ GRANDS HOMMES DES NATIONS DE LA C.E.E. 27 AVRIL 63 PARIS" (FIRST DAY FIVE GREAT MEN OF THE EEC NATIONS APRIL 27, 1963 PARIS). The entire item is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve, visible in the photo, which gives the surface a glossy finish.

The design of the illustration and the typography are typically consistent with the philatelic style of the 1960s. The stamp shows a portrait of Joseph Mazzini with the inscription "MAZZINI" in the upper right. The envelope is numbered 458 in the historical FDC series.

There is also a small handwritten label "10F" affixed to the plastic sleeve in the lower right, likely an old price or classification indicator.

Used item sold as is. The visible front appears in good overall condition, with clear prints and well-preserved colors. Protective plastic sleeve present, with no visible tears in the visible area.
