Description

This illustrated First Day Cover (FDC) highlights the ski resort of Le Mont-Dore, featuring an artistic view of snow-covered mountains and fir trees in the foreground. In the upper left corner, the printed inscription "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION N°887 HISTORIQUE F.D.C." appears, followed by the site name "LE MONT-DORE STATION DE SPORTS D’HIVER" in the lower left. The illustration is distinguished by bluish and white hues, evoking the winter atmosphere.

Two round postmarks are clearly visible on the front, bearing the inscription "PREMIER JOUR LE MONT-DORE 1er JUIL. 61 PUY-DE-DÔME," confirming the date of July 1, 1961. A partially visible postage stamp is also observed on the right, as well as a handwritten or printed "10F" label affixed to the envelope's plastic protection.

The entire item is protected in a transparent sleeve, allowing the front to be seen without the back or contents being visible. The general presentation, as well as the clarity of the inscriptions and illustrations, demonstrate particular care taken in preserving this philatelic item.

The graphic composition, typical of 1960s FDCs, emphasizes the mountain landscape, snow, and winter sports atmosphere, enhancing the visual appeal of this commemorative envelope. The first day postmark adds value sought after in thematic philately on sports or French regions.

The visible side shows no major defects, apart from a small discernible hole in the plastic protection near the price tag. The colors remain well preserved, the paper appears clean, and the ink of the postmarks is clearly legible.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The visible front is in good general condition, with a plastic protector showing a small hole. No other major apparent defects on the visible area of the envelope.
