Description

This First Day Cover, carefully preserved in a transparent plastic sleeve, features an iconic illustration inspired by Eugène Delacroix's painting "Liberty Leading the People." The lower left portion displays a color reproduction of the famous painting, framed by a gold border, with the visible inscription "Eugène DELACROIX" and "La Liberté."

The upper right portion of the envelope features three French postage stamps depicting the face of Marianne, each in a different color (blue, brown, green). The stamps are canceled by a First Day postmark dated 1982, with the inscription "LIBERTÉ PARIS" and a stylized representation of Liberty. Also visible are the mentions "Premier Jour d’émission" (First Day of Issue) and the "FDC - First Day Cover - Paris" postmark.

The overall envelope highlights the French philatelic aesthetic of the early 1980s, with a meticulous layout and strong patriotic iconography. Delacroix's visual, a symbol of the Republic, is emphasized by crisp printing and vivid colors, while the Marianne stamps recall republican values.

The perfectly legible First Day postmark indicates the date of issue in Paris in 1982. The envelope is presented in a transparent protective sleeve, which has preserved its visible surface condition.
