Description

Illustrated First Day Cover, visible under transparent plastic sleeve, dedicated to Claude Monet's "Women in the Garden." On the front, a color reproduction of Monet's painting occupies the left side, framed by a golden line. At the top, the inscription "FEMMES AU JARDIN" is visible, accompanied by the signature "C. MONET" at the bottom left.

The right side features a matching stamp, also illustrated with the same pictorial motif and the mention "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" at the top. A red First Day postmark "PREMIER JOUR D'ÉMISSION - FIRST DAY COVER" appears below the stamp, as well as a round black postmark "PREMIER JOUR PARIS 12 JUIN 1972 C. MONET" with a stylized portrait of the artist, marking the issue date in Paris.

The support appears to be in good visual condition, protected in a transparent plastic sleeve. A small handwritten or printed insert "20 F" is observed glued to the front, with no other visible annotations.

The composition presents the classic elements of philatelic First Day Covers: thematic illustration, matching stamp, specific postmark for the issue day, and bilingual mentions. The ensemble offers iconography faithful to Monet's Impressionist universe, with soft colors and a spring garden scene.

The inscriptions and motifs are clear and well-centered, with no visible traces of major alteration, tears, or stains on the presented side. The general condition seems consistent with philatelic preservation and display use.

Condition

Used item sold as-is, protected in a plastic sleeve. The visible side shows no apparent major defects (no visible folds, stains, or tears in the photo).

Did you know? First Day Covers, or FDCs, are issued on the official release of a new stamp. The special postmark, here dated June 12, 1972, in Paris, certifies that the envelope was stamped on the very day of the stamp's issue. Monet's painting "Women in the Garden," painted around 1866, is one of the emblematic works of French Impressionism.
