Description

Illustrated First Day Cover, dedicated to the city of Saint-Lô, featuring a visual of the Monument to the Victims of the bombing of June 6, 1944. The envelope features a color print on the left side, depicting the monument and a stylized view of the city. On the right, the mention "SAINT-LÔ" appears in vertical capital letters.

A blazoned postage stamp, in blue, gold and red colors, is located on the upper right part of the envelope. This stamp bears the coat of arms of Saint-Lô, with a silver lion on a red background, surmounted by golden fleur-de-lis on a blue background. Two round postmarks "BLASON DE SAINT-LO PREMIER JOUR 17 DEC 66 50-SAINT-LO" are affixed to the visible side, confirming the First Day Cover (FDC) issue dated December 17, 1966.

The mentions "PREMIER JOUR D’ÉMISSION" and "FIRST DAY COVER" are printed in light blue on the right, accompanied by the First Day logo. A handwritten paper strip "10F" is glued to the bottom left, probably for internal identification or a rating. The envelope is protected by a transparent plastic sleeve.

The whole presents a neat visual appearance, typical of French commemorative philatelic envelopes from the 1960s. The colors of the stamp and the illustration are well preserved, with no noticeable discoloration on the visible side. No major defects, folds or stains are visible in the photo.
