Description

This antique triangular pennant features the emblematic symbol of Venice: the winged lion of Saint Mark, holding an open book. The visible side presents a deep red background adorned with a decorative golden patterned frame, characteristic of historic Italian souvenirs. The inscription "Venezia" is clearly legible in beige handwritten letters on the right side of the pennant.

The lion, stylized in yellow and black tones with red and gold details, occupies the center of the pennant. In its left front paw, it holds a book with a visible Latin inscription: "EVAN MARCE TUA CE", a reference to the Gospel according to Mark, a strong symbol of the Serenissima. A circular red halo surmounts the lion's head, emphasizing the sacred character of the illustration.

The pennant is bordered by a beige trim, sewn all around, which frames the central motif. A twisted beige cord is attached to the upper left corner, allowing the object to be easily hung. The fabric's texture evokes a slightly matte and supple finish, typical of textile tourist pennants from the mid-20th century.
