AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This CEF philatelic souvenir sheet honors the "Centre des Hautes Études sur l'Afrique et l'Asie Modernes" (CHEAM). The piece features a postage stamp with a face value of 3.20 francs, illustrated with a stylized map and motifs related to Africa and Asia. A Paris First Day Cancellation, dated June 17, 1989, is also visible on the upper left part of the sheet, with the inscription "CHEAM 1936-1986".
In the center, a large color illustration signed René Dessirier depicts, in a distinct graphic style, a scene combining stylized faces, an African mask, and decorative elements, highlighting the dialogue between African and Asian cultures. The dominant tones are black, brown, ocher, red, and gold, on an off-white background.
The composition of the sheet includes a gold frame around the main illustration, a sober and professional layout, and a detailed explanatory text at the bottom, tracing the history and role of CHEAM. The printing is clear, with perfectly legible inscriptions, including the main title at the top: "CENTRE DES HAUTES ÉTUDES SUR L’AFRIQUE ET L’ASIE MODERNES".
On the left margin, there is the reference "N° 811 S du catalogue CEF", as well as technical mentions and the numbering 9460, attesting to the limited edition. The overall appearance is that of an official commemorative sheet, typical of modern French philately.
The visible sides reveal excellent overall preservation: no folds, traces of moisture, or tears are apparent in the photo. The colors of the stamp and illustration remain vibrant and contrasted, and the stamp's perforation is clean.
Condition
Used item sold as is. The image shows a souvenir sheet in very good visual condition, with no major observable defects.
