Description
This CEF (Courrier d'Entreprise à la Française) philatelic souvenir sheet features the Council of Europe, with a central illustration depicting Strasbourg Cathedral, the Council of Europe building, and a stylized map of the European continent. The entire piece is printed in shades of purple, grey, and black, with a structured and elegant layout, typical of CEF productions from the 1980s.
The sheet presents three distinct postage stamps, affixed to the upper left and right. Each bears a "First Day" postmark dated November 16, 1984, from Strasbourg, guaranteeing its philatelic authenticity. The stamps are green, blue, and red, all in harmony with the European theme and the iconography of the Council of Europe. The cancellations are clear and well-positioned, adding value to this philatelic set.
The text printed on the sheet details the history and role of the Council of Europe, as well as the composition of its members, in French. The original illustration is signed by Eugène Lacaque, a renowned artist in the philatelic field, as mentioned at the bottom right of the sheet. The entire piece is framed with a golden border, highlighting the quality of presentation.
The sheet is presented in its original plastic sleeve, with a perforated margin on the left for binder filing, typical of CEF sheets. The reference "N°759 du catalogue CEF" as well as the individual number "9810" are visible on the side, attesting to its authenticity and provenance.
This CEF sheet is intended for collectors of thematic philately on Europe, enthusiasts of first-day documents, and anyone interested in European institutional history. Its careful presentation and detailed illustration make it a choice piece to enrich an album or for display.
