Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet highlights Danielle Casanova, an emblematic figure of the French Resistance. The visible side features an artistic color portrait of Danielle Casanova, created by graphic designer Huguette Sainson, accompanied by a bouquet of flowers in yellow and orange tones. To the right of the sheet is a reproduction of the stamp issued in her honor (face value 3.00), with a First Day cancellation dated March 8, 2000, in Paris, marked "Hommage à la femme" (Tribute to women).

The printed text details Danielle Casanova's biography, her commitment to the Resistance, and her journey until her death in 1943. The layout combines artistic illustration, commemorative text, and philatelic elements, typical of CEF (Courrier d’Entreprise Philatélique) sheets.

The careful composition enhances the main portrait, framed by clean white margins. The inscriptions are perfectly legible: the title "Danielle Casanova" at the top right, the graphic designer's name at the bottom left, and the presentation of the historical context. The entire piece is printed on smooth cardstock, with clear printing and well-saturated colors.

The montage includes the official stamp and a First Day cancellation, essential elements for thematic philately enthusiasts. This sheet highlights both the historical and artistic dimensions of the issue, thanks to the work of graphic designer Huguette Sainson, explicitly mentioned on the front side.

The sheet is presented flat, without a frame or any additional visible support. No major defects appear on the visible area: the paper seems to be in good condition, with no apparent creases or stains on the front side.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side has a clean surface, with no noticeable defects. The visible corners and edges appear crisp.

Did you know? Danielle Casanova (1909-1943), a Resistance fighter and communist activist, was the only woman to have led the Communist Youth movement in France before World War II. She died in deportation to Auschwitz, embodying women's commitment to the Resistance. CEF sheets are a French philatelic tradition, combining stamps, illustrations, and historical text, often produced in limited editions.
