Description

This CEF philatelic sheet honors Gaston Bachelard, a major figure in French philosophy and epistemology. It is an illustrated sheet, featuring a postmarked stamp with a commemorative "BAR SUR AUBE – GASTON BACHELARD" postmark on the left, and a color illustration depicting Bachelard sitting in front of a library on the right. The image in the illustration, signed by Jacques Combet, displays a refined graphic style with sober colors and a discreet frame.

The sheet is primarily white with a thin gold or beige border. At the top right, the title "GASTON BACHELARD" is displayed in black capital letters. The central part contains a detailed biographical text, printed in black, accompanied by a round postal cancellation stamped over the text and the stamp.

On the left, the stamp and the first-day cover are clearly visible, characteristic elements of CEF sheets. The text printed on the side margin indicates: "N° 730 du catalogue CEF," "Dessiné par CEF," and specifies the limited edition as well as the usual mentions for philatelic editions. The individual number "1437" is printed at the bottom left of the sheet, confirming the numbered edition.

The surface of the sheet has a smooth appearance, with no apparent defects, no creases, and no visible stains in the photographed area. The perforations on the left suggest a format compatible with a binder or a philatelic album presentation.

The set is typical of CEF (Courrier d’Entreprise à Facile) issues, intended for thematic philately and the commemoration of French personalities. This sheet combines postal interest (stamp, cancellation) and illustrative aspect, with a clear and professional layout.
