CEF Île de France 1978 souvenir sheet 1F blue first day philately
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This CEF philatelic souvenir sheet highlights the Île de France region through a carefully presented layout typical of First Day issues. On the visible side, there is a French 1 franc stamp featuring a stylized blue, white, and red floral motif, accompanied by a First Day cancellation dated March 4, 1978, in Paris. The sheet is complemented by a large color photographic illustration depicting a wooded path bathed in light, and a detailed descriptive text about the Île de France region, printed in black on a white background with a gold border.
The upper left corner of the sheet features a large blue floral emblem, mirroring the stamp's motif, which adds a distinctive graphic touch to the whole. The carefully balanced composition of visual elements, text, and philatelic items is characteristic of CEF sheets, produced to commemorate specific stamp issues.
On the left margin, there are publication references, including "N° 485 du Catalogue CEF" (CEF Catalogue No. 485), as well as technical details relating to printing and print run limitation. The bottom edge bears the number 10502, probably indicating an individual number in the limited edition series. The overall presentation is understated, typical of French philatelic productions from the late 1970s.
The text printed on the right, titled "Ile de France," briefly recounts the region's history, role, and missions, as well as its demographic and economic importance. The general presentation is clean, without excessive graphics, and highlights both the documentary aspect and the philatelic interest of the sheet.

Did you know? The acronym CEF stands for "Courrier d’Entreprise à Faciale" (Corporate Mail at Face Value), but in philately, it primarily refers to commemorative sheets issued to celebrate First Day issues in France. These sheets are highly valued for their print quality and their historical documentation on French regions, events, or personalities.
