Description

This CEF philatelic sheet pays tribute to Jean Dubuffet (1901-1985), a major figure in Art Brut and French contemporary art. The piece features a rectangular composition with a white background, framed by a golden border, with an offset reproduction of Jean Dubuffet's painting "L'Egaré" at its center. To the left is an illustrated postage stamp in Dubuffet's characteristic style, accompanied by a First Day cancellation dated September 14, 1985, from Le Havre, with the artist's printed handwritten signature.

The sheet also includes a detailed biographical text on Dubuffet, specifying his contribution to French philately and contemporary art. The entire piece is protected in its original plastic sleeve, with three visible perforations on the left, typical of CEF sheets designed for binder storage.

The sheet printing indicates "N°784 du catalogue CEF", as well as the edition reference and the limited print run of 20,500 copies, including 1,500 on silk. The individual numbering "10956" appears at the bottom left of the sheet, attesting to the authenticity of the piece.

The dominant colors are black, white, red, and some touches of blue, faithful to Dubuffet's graphic palette. The overall presentation is neat, ideal for showcasing this type of philatelic document.

This sheet is a representative example of French thematic philately, combining art, postal history, and a tribute to a renowned artist. The finishes and presentation conform to the standards of CEF (Courrier d’Entreprise Philatélique) editions.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The sheet visible in the photo appears clean, with no apparent defects on the visible side. Original plastic sleeve included.

Did you know? Jean Dubuffet invented the concept of Art Brut in 1945, valorizing the spontaneous creations of non-professional authors, such as children or people outside the traditional art system. His work profoundly influenced contemporary art and the perception of creativity outside official channels.
