Description

Official philatelic sheet published by the CEF (Centré d'Études Philatéliques Françaises), dedicated to the 1993 National Stamp Day. This sheet honors Jacques Tati's film "Jour de Fête," featuring a main illustration inspired by the film's poster, signed René Péron (visible at the bottom right of the illustration). The visual depicts the famous postman on a bicycle against a burgundy background, accompanied by the stylized text "Jour de Fête" and the name "Jacques Tati."

In the lower left part, a matching stamp features the bicycle postman motif, with the inscription "Journée du Timbre" and the face value "250.00G". The stamp bears a round cancellation "JOURNÉE DU TIMBRE PARIS 6 MARS 1993", positioned below the stamp, confirming the issue date and the authenticity of the first day cancellation.

The right side of the sheet features a printed text detailing the history of mail delivery in France, under the title "JOURNÉE NATIONALE DU TIMBRE - LA DISTRIBUTION DU COURRIER" (National Stamp Day - Mail Delivery). The text is clearly legible and contextualizes the choice of theme, notably evoking the postman as an emblematic figure of the French postal service.

In the left margin, we find the mention "N° 1117 A du catalogue CEF", as well as the reference to SODOPHI (Société pour la Diffusion des Oeuvres et Produits Philatéliques - Society for the Distribution of Philatelic Works and Products). The sheet is individually numbered at the bottom left ("819"), indicating a limited edition.

The backing is off-white with a black border around the main visual. The whole is presented in a transparent plastic sleeve, perforated on the left for binder filing.

Condition

Used item in very good visual condition on the displayed side. Clear colors, clean print, well-marked stamp and cancellation. Plastic sleeve shows slight handling marks without impact on the sheet.

Did you know? Jacques Tati's film "Jour de Fête", released in 1949, is the director's first feature film, and features the character of the postman, who became an icon of French cinema. The 1993 Stamp Day chose this theme to celebrate the role of the postman and the history of mail in France, combining philately and cinematic heritage.
