Description
This CEF philatelic souvenir sheet honors Léon Jouhaux (1879-1954), an emblematic figure of French trade unionism and a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. On its visible side, the sheet features a color portrait of Léon Jouhaux, framed by a golden border. In the upper right corner, a French postage stamp with the same portrait is canceled with a round black postmark, marked "LÉON JOUHAUX PARIS" and dated. The vignette and the stamp are harmoniously integrated, enhancing the commemorative aspect of the whole.
The souvenir sheet is printed on smooth white paper. On the left, the mention "N° 498 du catalogue CEF" (No. 498 from the CEF catalog) as well as the CEF logo are visible, confirming the authenticity of the edition. Two perforations are visible on the edge, allowing it to be filed in a philatelic album. In the lower left corner, the copy number "9477" is clearly indicated, attesting to the limited print run of this issue.
A long biographical text occupies the right side of the souvenir sheet, tracing Léon Jouhaux's career, his commitments, and his achievements. The text is printed in black, with clear and legible typography. Below the portrait, the caption "LÉON JOUHAUX 1879-1954" is clearly visible. The overall design is sober and elegant, consistent with CEF productions for enthusiasts of thematic philately.
The souvenir sheet presents a classic configuration, with a stamp, first-day cancellation, and central illustration. No major defects or alterations are visible on the displayed side. The margins are regular, the paper surface is clean, and the print quality is uniform.
This commemorative souvenir sheet is part of the tradition of CEF issues celebrating great French personalities, here through a quality philatelic medium, intended for display in a specialized album or binder.
