CEF Sheet Famous Men Marc Seguin Philately First Day Cover Stamp
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This illustrated CEF leaflet features Marc Seguin in the "Les Hommes Célèbres" (Famous Men) series. The visible side presents a large color illustration of Marc Seguin's portrait, accompanied by a stylized drawing of a suspension bridge, on a yellow and gray background. The work is signed by René Quillivic, a renowned engraver, whose name appears below the illustration. Below that, the name "Marc SEGUIN" is clearly inscribed in black letters, along with the series title.
To the right, a detailed text recounts the biography of Marc Seguin, inventor and engineer, famous for his work on suspension bridges and the steam locomotive. This text is printed in black on a white background, making it easily legible.
The leaflet includes a French postage stamp featuring Marc Seguin, with a face value of 2.50 F, in dark green. The stamp is canceled with a "First Day" postmark dated February 22, 1986, from Annonay, a historic location linked to the Seguin family. The postmark bears the inscription "07100 ANNONAY - PREMIER JOUR" with a stylized drawing of a locomotive and a bridge, recalling Seguin's work.
The whole is framed by a dark brown border. The leaflet is printed on white cardstock, and the presentation is typical of CEF First Day issues, with a neat and informative layout. The visible corners and edges are sharp, with no apparent signs of wear in the photo.
The leaflet is intended for philately enthusiasts, First Day document collectors, and illustrated biography lovers, and it highlights both the art of engraving and French postal history.
