Description

This philatelic sheet, published by the CEF (Club Français des Émetteurs de Feuillets), honors two great figures of French philately: the "Marianne" and "Sabine" types. On the visible side, the meticulous presentation brings together a series of reproduced stamps, accompanied by a large vignette illustrating Béquet's famous "Sabine," in blue on a white background, with a face value of 0.70 franc. The graphic composition, typical of CEF thematic sheets, offers an elegant contrast between the vibrant blue of the main vignette and the varied colors of the miniature stamps.

The upper part of the sheet features a selection of emblematic "Type Marianne" stamps: reproductions of creations by Dulac (1944), Decaris (1960), Gandon (1945), Muller (1956), Cocteau (1961), La Nef (1959), Cheffer (1969), and Béquet (1976) are included. These stamps are arranged on a light blue background, allowing for appreciation of the graphic diversity of the republican effigies used in France over the decades.

In the lower part, the sheet displays two "Type Sabine" stamps from 1979, postmarked with a round blue stamp, dated and marked "PREMIER JOUR" (First Day), highlighting the philatelic interest of this sheet. The cancellations are clear and well-centered. The overall impression is that of a quality product, intended for display or storage in an album.

In the left margin, the indication "N°510 Spécial de catalogue CEF," the mention of a limited edition of 20,000 copies (11,000 offset, 9,000 silk), and the individual sheet number "5470" printed in the bottom left are visible, confirming the limited edition and referenced nature of the item.

The sheet is inserted into a transparent plastic sleeve, ensuring the preservation of its colors and the absence of visible marks on the exposed side. The overall presentation is clean, suitable for display or storage in an organized philatelic collection.

Condition

Used item, sold as is. The visible side appears in very good condition with no notable defects, wear, or stains on the exposed part.

Did you know? CEF sheets are highly prized for their thematic presentation and limited edition. Béquet's "Sabine," introduced in 1977, replaced the "Marianne de Cheffer" and was used on French postage stamps until 1982. It is recognizable by its profile inspired by a sculpture by David d'Angers.
