Description

This CEF sheet features a remarkable philatelic composition centered around the theme of Marianne, an emblematic figure on French stamps. On the main part, a large stylized pink reproduction of a 0.70 FRANCE Marianne stamp is prominently displayed on the right side of the sheet. This reproduction occupies a central place in the visual presentation and immediately attracts the eye with its enlarged format and vibrant color.

On the left side of the sheet, nine original stamps are arranged in two rows. Each represents a different version of Marianne, identified by the engraver's name and year of issue (Dulac 1944, Decaris 1960, Gandon 1945, Muller 1955, Cocteau 1961, La Nef 1959, Cheffer 1969, Béquet 1976). The colors vary from pale yellow to violet, including green, blue, pink, and red, illustrating the graphic and chromatic diversity of French postal issues.

Below, two black commemorative postmarks, marked "SABINE PARIS," cancel the sheet, attesting to a special philatelic issue dated 1979 and dedicated to the "Sabine" type. This meticulous presentation, typical of CEF sheets, highlights the richness of French postal heritage.

The sheet is mounted on a cardboard support with a gold frame, and on the left are the technical printing details: the issue is strictly limited to 33,800 copies, of which 13,500 are on silk. The individual sheet number visible in the photo is 011193. The inscriptions "N° 545 du catalogue CEF" and "Modèle déposé CEF" appear at the top left.

The overall design is elegant, with an orderly layout and a harmony of pastel colors. The visible part shows no major defects, scratches, or folds, and the print remains clear on both the stamps and the postmarks.

Condition

Used item sold as is. The part visible in the photo shows no apparent defects, wear, or significant discoloration. The sheet retains its original freshness.

Did you know? The "Sabine" type was introduced on French stamps in 1977, based on an engraving by Pierre Gandon inspired by a painting by Jacques-Louis David. The CEF sheet showcases the evolution of Marianne through different artistic interpretations, reflecting the major graphic trends of the 20th century in French philately.
