Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet features a selection of French stamps issued under the "Marianne" and "Sabine" themes, published by CEF (Courrier d’Entreprise de France). The central part shows a montage of authentic stamps, each accompanied by its vintage and the signature of the corresponding artist or engraver, such as Dulac (1944), Decaris (1960), Gandon (1945), Muller (1955), Cocteau (1961), la NEF (1959), Cheffer (1969), Béquet (1976), as well as the 1979 Sabine series. The stamps are presented on a light gray cardboard backing, with a golden frame and a large stylized reproduction of a blue "France 0.70" stamp on the right.

The lower part of the sheet features six "Sabine" stamps from 1979, each bearing a legible circular cancellation "LATELIER DU TIMBRE RUE D’...". The colors of the stamps vary (black, blue, green, violet, red, orange), illustrating the diversity of postal issues from this period. The sheet is inserted into a three-hole plastic sleeve, typical of CEF presentations, and bears the number 8307 on the side band, indicating its place in a limited edition of 20,000 copies.

A printed notice at the bottom right of the sheet specifies that it is an artistic creation specially published for the release of the 1979 "Sabine" blocks, with cancellations applied for the occasion. The text highlights the exceptional nature of the format and the fact that these sheets were not sold to the public outside of subscriptions.

On the visible side, no major defects are observable: the stamps, the giant vignette, and the backing appear clean, with no apparent traces of stains, folds, or alteration of the graphics. The colors of the stamps are vibrant, and the text remains perfectly legible. The whole is presented in a very clean visual condition.

This CEF sheet is intended for any buyer looking for a philatelic document illustrating the evolution of the Marianne motif up to the 1979 Sabine, with the presence of several artistic signatures recognized in French philately.

Did you know? The "Sabine de Gandon" is an emblematic series of French stamps engraved by Pierre Gandon in 1977, inspired by an antique statue from the Louvre. It replaced the "Marianne de Béquet" on common mail from 1978 and was used until the early 1980s.
