Miniature sheet CEF Palais Idéal Facteur Cheval postmarked illustrated stamp Philately
AFW - Antique France Worldwide
Description
This CEF philatelic sheet honors the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, an emblematic monument in Drôme, France. On the visible side, a detailed black and violet illustration depicts the portrait of Facteur Cheval, wearing his cap, against the backdrop of his unique architectural work, richly drawn in an engraving style. The title “PALAIS IDÉAL DU FACTEUR CHEVAL” appears in stylized letters below the main illustration. The artist Pierre Albuisson, renowned for his philatelic works, signs the illustration on the left side.
In the upper right, a matching commemorative stamp, with a face value of 1.10 F, presents a view of the Palais Idéal. This stamp is postmarked with a first-day cachet “PALAIS IDEAL FACTEUR CHEVAL HAUTERIVES”, perfectly legible on the front. The composition of the sheet combines explanatory text, illustration, and philatelic elements, typical of CEF (Courrier d’Entreprise à la Française) issues.
The text printed at the bottom of the visible side recounts the history of the monument and its creator. The sheet is framed with a golden border, adding a touch of distinction. On the left margin, one can see the mention “N°731 du catalogue CEF” as well as the individual number “1186”, confirming the limited print run and the reference to the official CEF catalog.
The surface of the sheet has a smooth finish, with clear printing and sharp contrasts between the inked areas and the blank parts. No defects, creases, or signs of wear are visible on this side; the corners and edges appear crisp. The entire item is inserted in a transparent plastic sleeve, typical of CEF presentation, ensuring its preserved condition.
