Description
This illustrated CEF philatelic sheet highlights the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, an emblematic monument of the Haute-Loire region, through a refined graphic composition. On the visible side, the sheet presents a detailed illustration in black and purple of the famous postman Joseph Ferdinand Cheval, accompanied by a stylized representation of the Palais Idéal. The postman's portrait, in uniform and cap, is emphasized by a purple print contrasting with the complex architecture of the palace rendered in black.
The entire sheet is bordered by a thin frame, and a large area at the bottom right is occupied by an printed explanatory text, recounting the history of the monument and its creator. The text is complemented by the signature of the artist Pierre Albuisson, the engraver and designer behind the illustration.
In the upper right corner, a matching postage stamp, reproducing the Palais Idéal, is canceled with a first-day postmark "Palais Idéal Facteur Cheval Hauterives". This cancellation attests to the philatelic authenticity of the sheet and enhances its interest for philately.
The support features a white finish with a wood effect, with the number "1188" visible in the lower left, indicating a limited edition. On the left edge, the mention "CEF" (Créations Philatéliques Françaises) is visible, as well as the reference "N° 731 du catalogue CEF" and the edition limitation.
This sheet stands out for the richness of its illustration, the quality of its printing, and the presence of an explanatory text, making it both a decorative and informative item, ideal for collectors of thematic philately or French postal history.
