Description

This illustrated philatelic sheet, from the CEF (Côte d'Émission Française) series, celebrates the famous "Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval." On the visible side, a graphic composition combines a portrait of Facteur Cheval in uniform, drawn in purple, with a detailed representation of his palace, rendered in a black and white engraving style. The illustration is signed "A. ALBUISSON," a renowned engraver in the philatelic field.

In the upper right, a franked postage stamp is visible, accompanied by a first-day cancellation. The round postmark bears the inscription "HAUTERIVES – PALAIS IDÉAL," confirming the authenticity and philatelic value of this sheet. The stamp features the theme of the Palais Idéal, harmoniously complementing the overall graphic.

The sheet has a golden border framing the composition, highlighting its commemorative aspect and meticulous presentation. On the left, an explanatory text traces the history and artistic significance of the Palais Idéal, a masterpiece of naive architecture created by Ferdinand Cheval in Hauterives. The lower left section mentions the engraver's name and printing conditions, while the individual number "1185" indicates a limited edition.

The upper part of the support indicates the reference "N° 731 du catalogue CEF" and specifies that it is a choice model published by CEF. The entire piece is printed on smooth white paper, offering excellent readability and a presentation quality suitable for prestige philately.

This CEF sheet stands out for the richness of its illustration, the presence of a franked and canceled stamp on the theme of the Palais Idéal, and the integration of historical and artistic information about Ferdinand Cheval. The overall condition observed is very satisfactory, with no visible defects on the presented side.
